Welcome To 'Our' Office

Posted on Sat May 29th, 2021 @ 3:22am by Arcade Coordinator Jaxon Dominie & Arcade Coordinator's Aide Sidra

Mission: What Lies In The Darkness
Location: Arcade Coordinator's office
Timeline: 248001.01 12:58

Sidra smoothly dodged another biped as she made her way through the Arcade seeking more information from what would become her new focus. She noted the many species both in shoppers and shops, she would learn much here. Her reptilian features not drawing too much attention but her serious expression and brisk walk did mean there were some quick looks and shifts as some people simply got out of her way. A few watching warily until she passed and she made a mental note to try to look less intimidating....later. Right now she was getting near her meeting time and did not choose to be late for her appointment with her new employer.

Finally with some minutes to spare she tapped a door chime and waited patiently. Wearing a well tailored, elegant but quite practical dark grey business suit with a high collar covering her neck. Black dress shoes completed the look.

While it wasn't quite the time for the office to open, Jaxon had been expecting his assistant to arrive. Hearing the chime, he looked up from his work, furrowing his brow as he wondered if he'd forgotten to unlock the main door... again.

Instead of asking the computer to release the lock, he got out of his desk chair and hurried over to the door to discover it wasn't locked after all. He opened it wide and there stood before him was a reptilian humanoid female. "Oh hey," he smiled, thinking he recognized her from her file. Yet he still questioned, "Sidra?"

Sidra looked at the human biped and nodded once, "You would be Ser Dominie." She placed a hand over her left upper chest and gave a slight bow. "Pleased I am to meet you." Her voice was smooth her words carefully chosen and well delivered in a tone of polite greeting.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too," he replied, cheerfully, pleased with her manner, and then moved out of the way. "Please, come in." He then closed the door as she entered, before following her down the short flight of stairs to the sunk-in main office area.

She did so looking around curiously but politely as she moved to the space just in front of his desk. A personal computer padd still held in one hand.

"Okay, well, " he went around the desk and started awkwardly gathering a few things, "this is your desk. While waiting on your arrival, I've been using it." He ended with a smile.

"Understandable. I am told that sometimes in humans external disorder is the sign of an intelligent mind." It could also be just that they were messy people but from what she'd learned of her new boss she was inclined to be generous in her assessment. "I can go through the desk and interfile what I find with it's home. Do you have a file plan?"

Now amused by her first statement, Jaxon glanced at her as he grabbed a couple more items. "It's pretty basic... But if you have your own system that works better for you, go ahead and make the changes." He gave her another smile, "I'll pick up on it."

She looked thoughtful for a moment then realized her mistake. 'File Plan' could mean the written form that listed organizational method by which one organized their files aka what was where and how or simply indicating there was some organization to the files. "If you have time to explain how you have the information organized, that would be helpful or I can certainly sort it myself if you could just indicate where all files tend to be kept?" She asked politely, concerned she may be keeping him from other, more pressing work. She was also eager to organize what appeared to be a mess. She respected the methods of other cultures but she personally preferred a more organized and neat style. "Though that is secondary to if you have any appointments I'll need to prefer for you first?" She continued, already noting she'd need to check his schedule for the upcoming weeks.

"No appointments," Jaxon smiled, and then with his arms full, started heading away. "First I'll get these things into my office. Be right back. Oh damn!" he chuckled, taking a step back out of his office doorway as it hit him what she really meant, "File plan... Okay, I'll get you set up, just a moment." He then disappeared inside.

Sidra blinked at his reaction and watched him leave the room. "What a curious person." She muttered, turning to the remaining piles of tablets determined to bring order to the chaos.

A quick moment later he returned to find her gathering up some of the tablets he'd left behind. He shook his head with a sigh as he joined her, "I'm really sorry about the mess. I didn't want to take over my office until after you arrived, didn't want anyone walking in here with me hidden away..." Thinking about that, he turned to look back towards his office. "I think I should have a transparent wall placed there. It'll make this place feel even more open. What do you think?"

"It's quite alright." She said replying to his parts in order. "It makes sense to work from the easiest point for the patrons. As to his second point, she glanced at the wall that hide his office. And considered carefully how to word her response, "It is not well I know you, so this may not relate." She paused then continued, "It has been my experience that some sentients do not like to 'be on display' at all times. Which is the feeling some can get from being seen through a plexi wall, if you wish to open the office it would be a consideration to remove the wall. Though that or a plexi wall would interfere with your business should your guests wish privacy. A wall you could turn opaque or not at will might serve your needs but as you can not walk or communicate through it I do not know if it will grant the feeling of openness you are hoping for." She paused there curious about his response.

Jaxon nodded while continuing to stare at the wall as he thought about it. "Yeah...we have a type of comm system between our desk, and we have Lyta. So I think one of those wall panels that can be made opaque when desired would work great." He smiled then and turned to focus on her. "Is there anything you would like to help make your area more appealing?"

"I am unsure." She said after a moment glancing around, "I will first organize the files and schedules after that I can make notes of any possible requests." Personally she'd like it warmer but understood that was not comfortable for other species hence her elegantly tailored but quite warm clothing.

Alright, sounds perfect," he smiled and then went behind her desk to pull out a chair. "Please have a seat and we'll get to those files."

A brief eyebrow raised at the gesture. She moved to take the seat, "Time to be about it." She said briskly, a hint of a smile on her reptilian features. This was going to be an interesting assignment and she was eager to get started.
