After leaving Maralen, Mika decided his next stop would be to meet the FarVoyager's mission advisor, Cael Maz. He stopped at one point to take a look at his tablet, to make sure he was going the right way, before showing up before Cael's office door. He pressed the chime, announcing his arrival.

Cael was fast asleep until he heard the chime of the door. His eyes took a few seconds to adjust before he cleared his throat and said "Enter". As he turned in his seat he sighed as his leg was acting up. One day he will get it properly refixed but for now, it would serve as a reminder of a time long ago.

The door had opened and Mika stepped inside, hesitating for only a brief moment as one still slightly unsure of their surroundings. The uncertainty passed as quickly as it came, but that was only until he started walking towards the man sitting behind the desk. "Cael Maz?" he had smiled, "I’m FarVoyager's Executive Officer, Doctor Mika Rai’z." Then a look of bewilderment took over his face as he recognized the distinctive spots that ran along the unscarred side of Cael's. "I just left from reporting in to the Captain and thought we should meet..."

"That would be me, come sit young man." Cael said motioning to the seat across from him at his desk. He adjusted himself a tad so that he could put himself under the table. His display seemed foreign but his fingers moved across it with ease. "AHhh So indeed. Welcome aboard."

"Thank you," Mika said with a small smile as he took the seat, and then the smile fell. The use of "young man' by one who appeared to be around the same age as he did, is what finally convinced him of what the answer would be to his next question. "You're not from this universe, are you?"

Cael shook his head, "I am not, no. I come from one very much different than the one we currently dwell." He said as he looked toward Mika with interest, "Can I get you anything? Whiskey perhaps?"

Mika slightly shook his head, "No... thank you," a serious yet curious expression still on his face. "I come from another universe as well," he continued. "where there's no Interstellar Coalition, no Shadow Dragon Enterprises, nor many of the species I've seen here on this side of the galaxy. But I'm pretty sure I recognize yours... Are you Trill?"

Cael was mid pour when he pulled back on the bottle, "Yes...yes I am." he said as he set the bottle down and put the glass to his lips and the liquid moved past them toward the back of his throat. In one gulp, it was all gone. "Out of time as well?"

"Yes, I am," Mika replied while studying him, "by near a century earlier." Still not assuming their verse was the same one, he continued, "The organization I worked for was the United Federation of Planets."

"I left 2412 and wound up here when an experimental drive went haywire. I too worked for the United Federation of Planets though a more....reclusive division of it." Cael offered. "In fact, I was there when the UFP was founded."

Mika gave a knowing smile at the last of what Cael said, understanding it would have been a past host with Maz. He had no idea of what the reclusive division would have been. "Reclusive?" he asked.

"Indeed. One that carried with it both good and bad ramifications. But that is all in the past now. And another lifetime so to speak." Cael said with a smile as he set the glass down.

"I understand," Mika replied while studying the man. He had his own version of living more than one lifetime. "I suppose there is no chance the same experimental drive that brought you here can take you back.."

"The creator of the drive died and the drive destroyed beyond restoration. If it wasn't for loads of luck, I would be dead as well." Cael stated with a frown. Even if he had the drive, he wouldn't go back. Not then nor now. But he felt for those that did want to.

Although Mika really wasn't surprised that there was no chance, his brow had furrowed at the reason why. "I'm sorry," he said, "but you seem to be doing well here."

"In this place, there is a chance for me to end my long life on a good note. Call it...a chance at redemption. With no other Trill, Maz's life will end when mine does." Cael stated calmly with a hit of peace in his voice.

Mika had given a nod of understanding with a brief thought about all the species he’d had yet to learn about in this new universe, and with his scientific mind, couldn't help but wonder.. He decided it best to keep the thought to himself, at least for now, and then rose out of his seat with a small smile. "Well, I hate to cut this short, but I have yet to meet the department chiefs, at least those who have already boarded. It’s been interesting meeting you.”

"It has been an honor." Cael said with a cock of his head before he moved to lay back down for more rest.

"Likewise," Mika said as he watched him, and then was out the door.
