Physical Description | She is slim and lithe, displaying a grace of movement not suggested by the baggy sweater and long lab coat that seem to be her constant "companions". Her light-colored eyes hold age beyond her years. Her body is well-shaped, though she is no supermodel. No motion is wasted, every movement precise while still graceful. Her waist-length, red-brown hair is always kept neat and usually tied back when working -- wouldn't want it to get caught in some bit of tech she was working on and damaged, after all. Style varies when she is not working. |

Personality & Traits
General Overview | Karyn is highly driven. She pushes herself to her limits (but never beyond them unless entirely necessary). She never asks her staff to perform above that which she is willing to perform. Her honor stands without question, and her loyalty is to the preservation of the Innocents.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: genius (prodigy), does complex equations in her head, degrees in Quantum Physics and Mechanical Engineering (MIT, Cal Tech) Weakness: Not very socially adept, tends to take charge of situations, too noble for her own good |
|
Ambitions (optional) | Origionally, she became a scientist to make the world better. Unfortunately, circumstances and certain influences made that impossible on her world. She then set about to find a new home. She thought she had found it a couple of times, but the multiverse conspired against her. Now, she thinks she may have found it, and a man she could love, but she half waits for the other cosmic shoe to kick her in the head. What she really wants is to help make people's lives better, find love again, and make a home with that person.
Hobbies & Interests | Hobbies: traveling the many worlds her Vortex Generator can reach, music (voice and flute), technical design, reading technical journals Likes: Good Coffee, intelligent conversation, anything scientific Dislikes: Bad coffee, unnecessary violence, prejudice of any kind, stupidity |
Personal History & Notes
Personal History | A child prodigy, Karyn Morgan quickly climbed to the head of her classes in grade school. She was a graduate of High School by the time she was 13 and began her college training at MIT. By the time she was 17, she had graduated from that school with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She moved on to Cal Tech to begin her new major in Quantum Physics. This she completed by the age of 23. Then she began a career as an engineer for the Government. After the first 7 years, it became clear to Karyn that something was desperately wrong in the Government. They had taken several of her Projects and turned them into something she had never intended them to be. And now they wanted her to create a Weapon for them. She refused. Thus began her Underground Days. She retreated to her Mountain Cabin and built a Laboratory beneath it with the funds she had acquired from her Government days as well as funding from a large corporation whose owner she thought had only marginal involvement in her business. She was wrong. After three years, she had finally perfected her greatest achievement yet, what she called Quantum Reality Shifting. A device that would allow her to open a wormhole between universes. She had not tested it yet, however, when the son of the man who had helped her so much, and the current owner of the corporation, came into her lab demanding she give it to him. Instead, she ran with it, destroying her lab behind her. Sadly for her, the first place it took her was to an alternate where a race called the Galthor had taken control of the Earth. The wormhole opened into what they called Medical Garrison 47. She was immediately taken into custody. Determining that she was an alternate of someone who had given them quite a bit of trouble, they decided to augment and alter her to serve as an assassin for them, to kill all of her other alternates, then self terminate. Unfortunately for them, she managed to escape when someone completely unrelated attacked the garrison. This took three years of her life. She traveled randomly for ten more years before reaching Earth 947 (Galthor Mapping System). Here she became involved with Rodney Alan Greer and stayed for three years. When that Earth was attacked by a race of beings who considered Humans to be food, she tried to get Rodney to go with her through the wormhole. He refused, saying that he could not abandon his team but pushed her into the vortex just before it closed. The next world brought her into conflict with Rodney’s sadistic mirror opposite alternate. She barely escaped that world. Two more worlds followed. It didn't take her long in each case to discover that she didn't want to stay. Her next QRS Jump took her to one end of a lab currently occupied by only one man. As it turned out, after initial questions and such, her skillset would be of use in helping him to help a young boy. Obviously, she agreed, once more breaking her own Prime Directive. While they still could not cure him, the two working together managed to construct implants that would augment the boy's systems and give him a longer life expectancy. By the end of this time, the two had begun to become close. But as often happened with her, the multiverse had other ideas. The Galthor, who had not finished with their alterations of her, had sent a Retrieval Team to bring her back to Medical Garrison 47. Her intentions were to take the threat away from Mika and these people by running, making them follow her. But the wormhole she had opened to do this had opened closer than she had expected to where she and Mika were standing. Both of them were pulled into the swirling vortex. When the wormhole spit them out, it was onto a space station. In acclimatizing to the place, they learned that it was called Farside Station -- the Humans called it that because they couldn't pronounce the Koryndan word for it -- and that it belonged to a Mega Corporation called ShadowDragon Enterprises. It didn't take too long to realize that she couldn't guarantee him that she could get him home given the QRS's tendency to do whatever it pleased like a TARDIS. So they decided to make the best of it and find employment. This proved easy enough given that this ShadowDragon Enterprises was hiring new employees and contractors for a special project called FarVoyager. A bit of research gave them enough information about the company and the project to pique their curiosity and make them apply. He applied for the position of Chief of Medicine on the large-as-a-city ship, but after an interview with the owner of the company, Ashlyn, she offered him the position of Executive Officer instead, saying that she needed his skills with people much more than she needed yet another doctor, though those skills might get used as well during the long voyage. Karyn was also accepted and informed that she would be working with the Builders' IPD Technician because of her extensive experience with wormholes and devices that created them. It seemed that they would be allowed by the universe to continue their journey together. |

Medical | Karyn has been dramatically altered by a species called the Galthor. They altered her DNA to make it compatible with theirs and spliced some of theirs into it. This is what gives her the psionic potentials she now has (telepathy, small bit of telekinesis and a form of telepathic projection). It also gave her slightly increased strength and durability, though not as augmented as either Vulcans or Klingons. |
