A Lady and A Broken Hip

Mission: New Starts
Location: Medical Clinic
Timeline: 247912.31 0720

Leo was just starting his shift when a patient case was handed over to him. Looking it over, he headed towards the exam room where the patient was waiting. He gave a little knock to see a female Anamorphic Spotted Hyena sitting on an exam table and smiled, "Savannah Shenzi?"

Shenzi didn't want to see the doctor, with as she had fallen on her bad hip. Her staff dragged her in to see the doctors. She shifted uncomfortably on the bed as her hip was killing her. "Yes, sir." The overly tall Anamorphic Spotted Hyena said.

Noticing her obvious discomfort, he came over to her while setting the datapad aside. "Let's get you in a better position," he said as he reclined one end of the table. "Did you walk here or were you carried in?" he wanted to know.

"I didn't want to come, but I'm sure you noticed the large anamorphic Lion and Tiger in the waiting room." Shenzi stated. "They had to man handle me here, to make sure I haven't injured my hip further." She stated right before she gave a painful hiss.

"No, I came in from another direction," Leo said, his eyes on some readings at the head of the table. He'd grabbed a medical hand scanner and ran it over the area of her hip, getting some readings from that as well. "Okay, you should be able to lean back into a reclining position," he said,, then started gently guiding her to do just that.

She shows signs that her left leg was broken six places, her hip shattered and muscles damage, which has left the leg crippled and requiring a full length leg brace and a cane. Also, there is no evidence of cellular regeneration to any of the broken bones. She hissed more as her hip gave a sicking pop as she stretched out her leg more.

Leo found the readings both interesting and concerning; and that he had some research to do. "How long have you had the older injuries?" he wondered, pulling outwards from the wall another scanner, one that took deeper images.

"Over ten years now." Shenzi said with a wary pain in her voice. She reached up and pulled a modern version of a flash drive off of her necklace. "Here is my full medical records. Please make any copies you need and any updates to this memory stick." She stated.

Beginning another scan, one where the wall scanner began moving on its own slowly over the top of her, Leo nodded. He turned back to her, sounding appreciative, "Alright, I will and thank you." he said, accepting the memory stick and then inserted it into a slot on a side console next to him. A holographic image came to life and he pressed a few keys, causing a holographic page of her records to appear. Meanwhile, other images came up on another screen. "Luckily, your current injuries aren't too serious... Though there is some severe bruising. I'm going to give you something for the pain," he said, pulling out a hypospray from his lab coat pocket. "I would like to place you in another type of abduction hip brace, one that's more advanced, and figure out a new treatment plan for what you've been dealing with. But first, I'm going to need to go over your records and past treatments."

"I don't like the heavy drugs. They put me to sleep and very sick." Shenzi said. "A new treatment plan would be helpful, as I felt my previous doctors didn't care about my treatments."

Leo frowned at her words, not caring for the fact if that was the case. "This isn't heavy, I promise," he said placing the hypo to her neck to releasing its contents. "Now, I'd like you to rest here awhile and I'll be back shortly." He then smiled reassuredly.

She did as the Doctor suggested, well as well as she could. The pain in her hip and leg lessened to a minor throb, but there was a pair of somethings in that area that was begging for some attention. She growled in frustration.

A short time later, a technician with him, Leo returned with the abduction hip brace in hand, his eyes looking her over at his approach. "Alright," he smiled, "first we'll start with this." He held it up. "Any questions before we begin?"

She reached up and scratched the side of her muzzle. "Well.... It seems..." She cleared her throat a few times. "It seems that new medicine that you injected my with.... Well..." She continued to scratch her muzzle a bit embarrassed. "Well it has made me horny."

Oh… Leo's eyebrows furrowed, he looked a little surprised. Then giving her another look, he could see the signs that it was the case; it was a little evident. He shook his head feeling a little perplexed at the reaction. "That's the first time I have heard of that as a side effect. I can give you something to counter it," he offered.

"Please no more drugs." Shenzi said. "I'm sure it will wear off. I hope." She added lowly.

"Alright and...I'm sure it will," Leo replied and then exchanging a subtle look of awkwardness with the technician, started removing her old brace, then to placing the new one on. "How's that feel so far?" he asked.

Shenzi was completely embarrassed, but not for being overly horny, but the fact that she had broken her hip again. Well she was a bit embarrassed about the horniness, but there was nothing she can do to that at this moment. "It's a little tight." She finally said when the pain finally over took the drugs.

Purposely not giving away that he could tell she was feeling embarrassed, Leo still frowned about her discomfort, "okay", and readjusted the straps. "How's that?" he asked when he was finished.

Shenzi sighed as the pressure dropped on the broken hip. "Much better." She said. "How long will I have to wear this?"

“Well, I can’t exactly say at this time,” he replied with some sympathy. “Most likely for a while. I’m going to recommend some physical and massage therapy. The techniques these days can be very beneficial for your condition. Would you be willing to try those?”

"Yes I'm willing to try those." Shenzi said. "How is this going to fit into my leg brace. As I must wear it, for my knees can't handle my weight without it."

With a slight smile, Leo replied assuringly, "They have their ways. I'd like you to get as much rest as possible, get used to the brace for the next three to four days before beginning any therapy."

"I've been through therapy before." Shenzi stated. "I was wondering how this new brace is going to work the same as my old one or am I using both at this point?"

"Only this one. While it has a different mechanism, you'll be able to operate it the same," Leo clarified, and then smiled encouragingly, "So how about testing it out?" not wanting to release her until she did.

Shenzi swung her legs off the bed, and carefully got on her feet. She grunted as she stood. Without thinking she made a few physical adjustments to how the brace rest on her hip and leg. "Okay that feels better." She said looking down at her leg. "Just not as long as my other one."

Leo nodded, looking pleased. "That is true, but it's made to securely hold and stimulate in all the needed places." He then gestured to the technician who had been standing off to the side with an oversized wheelchair watching them. "Harry will escort you to your friends and you should be hearing from both therapists sometime tomorrow if not sooner."

Harry smiled and gave a two-fingered wave.

Shenzi sighs heavily as she slowly got to her feet. Once she was fully on her weight, her leg gave out under her weight. She quickly grabbed the bed so she wouldn't hit the floor. She panted heavily at the pulsing pain in her hip. "This is common for me."

Both men were already reaching out for her, to carefully help her into the wheelchair. Leo nodded, understanding her. "Remember, get the rest you need while getting used to the brace," he ordered gently as Harry started pushing her out the door.

"Thank you, and I hate this." Shenzi said leaning heavily on the arm of the wheelchair.

Appearing sympathetic, Harry wheeled her out of there.
